Reasons to Be Happy:
1. I've finally been able to make a new blog post after being off for what seems like decades. Yay!
2. I re-vamped this site in tons of ways, if it ain't obvious. For starters, you're now on All My Own Stunts, formerly known as Stuck in the Moment. And, yes I got the idea from the Arctic Monkeys song. (For all the other changes I've made, feel free to look around the place. I don't really have all the time nor patience to enumerate them all for you, #soznotsoz)
3. My quarterly exams are finally over! Goodbye, stress (and most importantly, Chemistry!)
Reasons to Be Quite Upset:
1. I ran out of other blog post ideas. I've been so preoccupied with my studies lately that I actually considered making a blog dedicated to simplifying radicals //OMG//
2. You have no choice but to bear with this rushed piece I have. Hope this'll suffice, and I promise you a kick-butt blog really soon! I got my fingers crossed that something eventful would happen soon.

Before this school year started, I rummaged through my room in an attempt to clean it, and ended up finding my old journal, which I started way back in the third grade. And yes, that explains all the Littlest Pet Shop stickers on the cover. I bought the seemingly 3D notebook on sale back in the States *sniff* for $2.99, and I vividly remember being the nerdy kid in school with thick-rimmed glasses and a notebook in her hands (still am, though). Practically every single thing I did in between 2009-2011 was written within the ruled pages of my trusty little notebook, and I had so much fun flipping through them and rediscovering so much about myself. I had a whole bucket list full of things that were either absurd or ridiculously deep for a third grader to think (there was no in between, I swear), story ideas that I knew were a hundred percent inspired by the Percy Jackson series and even observations I made about my classmates during the first day of school.
I literally couldn't stop laughing when I saw this collage of celebrity pages located at the very back of my notebook, and even if I am completely ashamed by my art skills, I will show it to you for your enjoyment. (Gosh, I don't even remember liking any of the celebrities on this page. Well, besides Justin Bieber. Anyone who knew me knows that I had this phase where I truly believed we would end up together. Bless my soul.) But my favorite part just has to be my playlist of Top 50 songs. My music taste then was absolutely horrifying, and it makes me cringe a little bit knowing that I couldn't last a day then without listening to Charice or Jason Derulo. I inserted some excerpts above, so we can bask in my messed up list of songs together!
Anyway, after my trip down memory lane, I was looking for a reason to start doing another journal that my twenty year-old self would definitely LOL over... Thank God for art class! Our year-long project was to make a journal. There were no rules or standards that were set, no limitations or boundaries: just that we should be ourselves, and make sure to buy a notebook without any lines. Since I am just one quarter into what has proven itself to be the most turbulent school year of my life thus far, my project is still a work in progress. Here is my notebook's sticker-ridden cover!
I am honestly running out of things to put in my journal though, which is a total bummer, since a percentage of our fourth quarter grade is allotted for this! So far, I've made a couple of playlists I plan to publish either on 8tracks or Grooveshark (yes, that was an intentional plug! I have no shame!), some rants about *censored topics*, odes to celebrities who don't know I exist and doodles based on some stuff I saw after searching for 'doodles tumblr' on Google Images. On a less self-centered note, I noticed that most people have second thoughts on starting a journal, primarily because they have no idea what to put in them! Well, I have two words for all you slightly confused-slash-hesitant folks: BE. YOURSELF. And no, I don't plan on making this something you'd see out of a Hallmark card; this is very useful advice! Rant about how hard it is to think of a proper topic to write about during thirty six degree weather. Sketch or cut out pictures of outfits you could only wish you had. Write your life story using only quadratic equations, if that's even possible (told ya Math has been invading my brain lately!).
After all, it's your journal and you can do whatever the heck you want with it! If you are still having doubts on starting a journal after everything I've said, let me just tell you this: keeping one sure is tricky, and thinking of ideas to make journaling more exciting for you is such an ordeal, but the fulfillment you'll get after finally completing it and the nostalgia you'll feel ten years from now as you skim through the pages of who you used to be will guarantee that it's all worth it. If you need anyone to talk to about this (oh wow, I sound like a guidance counselor), or if you are generous enough to give me ideas for my journal, feel free to contact me through my official blog e-mail, [email protected] or through my social networking accounts: @angxlmartinez on Twitter and Instagram.
