On the 5th of February, 2015, my fellow mildly irresponsible groupmates and I participated in our year level's practicum, as part of our requirements for our Entrepreneurship class. We set up a dainty booth called BITTER / SWEET and sold stickers, chicken nuggets, French fries, graham balls, iced tea and notebooks for what I would call affordable prices. As much as I'd hate to use such a cliché expression, the experience was truly a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
At first, my teammates assigned me to chop up the cooked pieces of chicken nuggets and spoon them into paper cups. But for some reason, I was going at extremely slow speeds that customers were starting to leave our booth. Talk about inefficient working! So, they made the somewhat wise decision of placing me on counter duty. I had the responsibility of making myself and our products look pleasant enough for students to want to buy from us, and probably cajole some little kids who looked reckless in spending their weekly allowance into buying more of our goods.
It was definitely hard to be put in such as a position. My offers were constantly rejected by a good number of schoolmates, some of them people I knew and thought I shared a special relationship with. I recall a few people coming up to me and asking a poopload of questions, therefore testing my product knowledge, but then ending up walking away and wasting my saliva. I had to walk out holding a tray of samples in the middle of the field during a boiling hot afternoon, as well, and the feeling of being ignored by people hurt my heart (and legs—cheers to being physically unfit!) more than I thought it could.
But overall, we earned a decent amount of money and had a ton of fun amidst all the pressure. Plus, I know for a fact that we won't be as rude to promodisers and salesladies in malls as we were before, ha! A huge holler at those who've bought from our store: whether you purchased a Harry Styles sticker for P5 or three cups of chicken nuggets for P105 (true story), in behalf of our group, we'd like to thank you and let you know that we are sending all our love your way, ya lil rascals!
And of course, what kind of a friend would I be if I didn't acknowledge the hard work of my groupmates Ryen, Rhoda, Gabby, Kyla, Jobelle, PatFer and Clarisse? They're a great bunch of individuals, and BITTER / SWEET would not have been as successful if one of us was missing. You guys are seriously the best and you deserve more of our A+ chicken nuggets!
So yeah, this is all I have so far. But worry not, there is something I'm doing really soon and I am excited beyond words to tell you all about it!
All my love, Angel
