My amazing class this school year made a collaborative effort in writing our very own story, and it would mean the world to us if you'd go ahead and check it out by simply clicking here. (Stick around a bit for a blurb of it, and an inside peek at how it's like editing it.)
Okay now, if you clicked on the link as early as now, thank you so much and may the Lord shower you with many blessings (including a rain storm of pies that are the flavor of your choice). Our story, which is called Renga Benga for no particular reason, came to be when our class adviser suggested that we make a story passed on from student to student, until all 42 of us have written in it and it becomes complete.
As partially expected, it centers around how our lives as normal pupils change after a sudden interaction with an all-boys school. From becoming simple thirteen year-old girls whose biggest problems in life are failing quizzes and not knowing what to eat in our canteen, we suddenly shift into young ladies who are being gawked at by dashingly handsome celebrities and are being sent death threats by syndicate organizations. In the most unbiased way possible, I'd say that this is an absolute joy to read.
Even if the plot is in no way at all realistic [except for the first ten (?) chapters, when we're all just struggling at how dumb we are in certain school subjects], the details are quite inconsistent in some places and the character point of views change almost every half a chapter, it's a light, fun story that shouldn't be taken seriously and will be most enjoyed when reading in a garden filled with blooming flowers and fresh air.
At first, the chapters of Renga Benga were written in irregular languages, the main writer's mothertongue constantly shifting from English to Filipino, so a classmate of mine (hi, Precious!) and I were assigned to translate them into English alone before publishing it in Wattpad. This was a true struggle for me, to be honest, because there were times when I felt I was already going off-plot because of the numerous revisions I had to make. (Actually, I am supposed to be working on a chapter right now, but I am...*cue horror music* procrastinating.)
But, it does pay off for me in the end. Once I accomplish as much as five chapters in a day and tweet to my friends that I've updated the story, my timeline floods with numerous quotes from the most recent chapters I've done, complete with the teary-eyed and tongue-sticking-out emojis. Through these, I already feel a sense of fulfillment, that all this eye-straining, outrageously challenging work is worth it after all, which delights me in ways no one could ever imagine.
So, yeah there you have it. I'm going to leave you to your reading. Don't forget to vote, comment, fan and even share it to your friends (even if you don't like it -- come on, we need more than 1.1k reads). Okay, that's all, bye x
P.S. I'm also going to be making a Renga Benga playlist on 8tracks once I get back to the Philippines, so watch out for it on my account, which is @/tbhangel. Thank you!
