Hello. I’m supposed to be doing either one of the ten assignments that are due by the end of this long weekend, but I eventually found my way back here, due to my habit of procrastinating important things that are worth thirty percent of my grade. I just wanted to get these words out of my system, and to give a message to all those out there who are struggling for different kinds of reasons.
If you wanted to go out for a day with your friends after what seemed to be the most exhausting week of your life so far, yet find yourself stranded in traffic and almost two hours late to the only group hangout you’ll be having in quite a long while, because of the heavy rains and non-functional stoplights, you’ll be alright.
If you are a straight-A student, constantly pressured by the people around you to live up to their expectations and pass this school year with flying colors, yet find yourself tearing your hair up because of the pile of homework that seems to grow every time you blink, you’ll be alright.
If you have been spending the past few emotionally draining hours/days/weeks of your life stuffing your face with Oreo cheesecake whilst crying over someone who will never really love you back (if you can actually do that, kudos!), you’ll be alright.
If you are locked in your room, blasting Asking Alexandria to drown out the screams of your fighting parents and the sounds of shattering plates as you hold back the angry tears that have been welling in your eyes for what seems like the longest time, you’ll be alright.
If you have cut class for the fifth day in a row to escape the mean girls who possess the talent of pointing out every physical imperfection you have in less than thirty seconds and continue to call you curse words in the middle of corridors, you’ll be alright.
I know that I am not an oracle who can predict that your life will be full of rainbows and smiles and ice cream with sprinkles on top in the near future, but I know this for sure: the fact that you are still reading this, the fact that it is still not the end of your life, means that you still have a chance to turn all of these things around. You can either chicken out of all these obstacles life has to throw at you, or charge them with your head held high. It may seem impossible and cliché, but the power to change your situation from down in the dumps to up in the clouds is in your hands.
You are beautiful and capable and intelligent and deserving of all the love and positive adjectives the Oxford Dictionary can hold, and you can make it through anything. You’ll be alright.
P.S. If you need someone to talk to, you can reach me through my official blog-email ([email protected]), Twitter (@angxlmartinez) and Instagram (@angxlmartinez). Stay strong, and believe it or not, there will always be someone in this world who loves you!
